Born in Nottingham, England in 2021 and consisting of Ryan Brooks (Vocals/Guitar), Lewis Brade (Bass), and Alex Smith (Drums/Percussion), SLEEP IN MOTION set out a manifesto to craft loud, distorted, groove-laden music that is dynamic and still maintains hooky sensibilities. Upon feasting your senses on the ascending alt-rockers, you’ll find that the rising trio have more than fulfilled their brief. With a slew of influences ranging from Alter Bridge and Avenged Sevenfold to Alice in Chains and Nirvana, SLEEP IN MOTION are a band stacked with venom, frustration and aggression which provides an intensely engrossing lyrical base for their musical endeavours.
SLEEP IN MOTION wasted no time unleashing their debut EP, Recreated, at the start of 2022. The release helped to create early awareness of the band’s guile and notable appeal. The post-grungers impressively expanded their discography and fanbase with their sophomore EP, Separate, which hit platforms earlier this year. As well as creating a striking body of recorded work, the Brit hard-hitters are quickly becoming renowned for their live performances. They spew their heart and soul into each show, channeling their passion and energy into creating an immersive and unforgettable experience for audiences. Word is now spreading, and an army of followers are swiftly assembling.
The stage is now set for the band’s upward trajectory with their forthcoming debut album, Existential, which has all the markings of a breakthrough release. Loaded with a slew of potential singles, thunderous riffs, thoughtful songwriting and emotive lyrics, the record is destined to move the band to the rising heights of the UK scene. Vocalist, Ryan Brooks highlights the motivation behind the release: “This is an album that had to be written. For me this album reflects my own realisation of my mortality, coming to terms with growing older and dealing with my own personal anxieties of death. Creating this album helped me to release my intrusive thoughts and pour them into a physical entity. I’d say this album was my own therapy. My own existential crisis.”
With a series of exciting live shows lining up for the remainder of the year, SLEEP IN MOTION’s time is now.
