Belgian modern/nu-metal band Mantah release second new single "The Enemy"

In 2018, Bart Vandeportaele left Spoil Engine after an eight year run. During his time in Spoil Engine he performed at Wacken, Graspop, Summer Breeze, Pukkelpop, AB and many more. In the years since, he has been focused on writing songs in his home studio without any limitations. Vandeportaele began working with vocalist Sven Herssens (Fields of Troy) to find the distinct sound they were aiming for: heavy, pounding music with catchy, diverse vocals and melodies. In the fall of 2020, Bert Nauwynck (Diecast Unit), Lothar Ryheul (Fields of Troy) and Dennis Wyffels (Lethal Injury / Bloodrocuted) joined the project and pushed the songs to a higher level. As they were writing and rehearsing this new project, the monster became real, and it was clear that they would be able to take these songs into the recording studio and on stage! MANTAH was born! This grouping of skilled musicians grew up on bands like Korn, Linkin Park, and Slipknot. The influence of 90’s nu-metal is heard throughou...

Hei’An Present New Video Single + Raja Meissner Drum Cover

After the two successful and well received singles inferno and in the cold it’s time to hear more tunes from the progressive, Slovenian metal quartet Hei’An – their third single can’t get out of my skin is a dreamy combination of gracefully captured clean vocals and solidly put-together-screams. The simplicity in the cinematically melodic sound is mesmerizing as the band is delivering their flawless instrumentals. The video for "can’t get out of my skin" is full of beautiful misty effects and the well established display of despair in the execution of the vocals gives you the chills: The song’s important message is represented with vigorous screams and huge-sounding choruses, which the band describes as their heaviest segment on the album with metalcore-esque breakdowns. Lead singer Matic Blagonič explains the story behind can’t get out of my skin more closely: “(It’s) a very emotional song about battling with addiction – addiction to being around the wrong kinds of people,...

LIVE REVIEW: BLOODSTOCK FESTIVAL, CATTON PARK UK - 11-14TH AUGUST 2022

UK’s heaviest metal festival, Bloodstock, returned to Catton Park during a heatwave, but that didn’t stop thousands of metal heads clad in primarily black clothing. The festival keeps getting bigger and better, initially starting as an indoor event, and now it’s an open-air event with a capacity of 20,000. 2022 was hot as hell, both in terms of the impressive line-up of big well-known acts to upcoming rising stars of metal and, of course, the scorching temperatures. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to the opening day of the festival on Thursday 11th, which saw Swedish melodic death metallers Dark Tranquility headline the Sophie Lancaster stage. Friday 12th August I Fight Bears - Photo Credit: Leigh van der Byl The first band of the day for me was the Welsh modern metalcore act I Fight Bears on the New Blood Stage, who won the South Wales Grand Final of the Metal 2 The Masses competition, earning the prestigious slot. Anticipation for this rising act was high as they had an exce...

A quartet of Brazilian metal veterans teamed up to celebrate Entombed, the Swedish death metal giant formed in the late 80s featuring the iconic singer L-G Petrov. The idea of recording "Out of Hand", originally released in "Wolverine Blues" back in 1993, came from guitarist Elizeu Hainzenreder (ex-Desolate Ways) in 2021, the same year Petrov died after a long battle with cancer. The musician invited vocalist Eduardo "Clark" Monteiro (ex-A Sorrowful Dream, ex-Unmaker), bassist Fabrício Bertolozi (Dyingbreed, ex-Horror Chamber) and drummer Paulo Wilges (Mortal Touch, Aterro, ex-Baal Hamon). The production was handled by Roger "Earth" Fingle (Seduced by Suicide, Blood Tears), who has been producing rock and metal bands for over twenty years. "The idea came up in 2021, but being a perfectionist I only do something if I can fully dedicate myself, it ended up taking a little longer to happen", commented Elizeu. He added, praising his col...
